Agilik: robotic knee orthosis
Agilik is a robotic orthosis. It was designed by Bionic Power Inc. and is distributed by Orthoservice Ro + Ten. Its goal is to improve the quality of life for patients—both children and adults—by increasing their personal mobility. With the medical device, patients can stand upright, walk more easily and for longer periods, while gaining muscle strength and independence. All features of this model and the results of clinical trials have been disclosed.
Specifications for the Agilik
The L Agilik works by assisting or blocking knee extension and flexion during walking. The goal of this device is to halt and reverse the deterioration of gait in patients with cerebral palsy. It does this, in particular, by facilitating the squatting motion while simultaneously strengthening the legs. As a result, patients can stand up on their own and improve their gait in the same way as they do with the or Phoenix SuitX. Among the advantages of the Agilik are:
improvement in the range of motion of the knee while walking;
improving walking efficiency and reducing fatigue;
Reconstruction of weakened muscles;
Improvement in patients' overall mobility and walking function.
Studies have shown that 50% of adolescents with cerebral palsy who are still able to walk will no longer be able to do so in early and middle adulthood. This is where the Agilik comes in.To function, the Agilik light activator is attached to a knee-ankle orthosis by an orthotist. This creates a comfortable and lightweight system.Thanks to advanced sensors and joint motors, the measures knee angle and angular velocity, as well as initial contact and toe-off. It then adjusts the assistance during the gait phase to facilitate the patient’s standing position and improve knee extension.

Test Agilik
Agilik is a custom orthotic, lightweight, and made of carbon fiber. It can be worn under pants or a dress, or over pants or Bermuda shorts. It is comfortable, durable, and ideal for people with difficulty squatting, osteoarthritis, and muscle weakness. It is also ideal for travelers who want to go further without needing assistance.Results from a BRI-approved clinical trial indicate that Agilik improves patients’ mobility and quality of life. It offers real potential to enhance clinical interventions and expand treatment options for this segment of the population.In the test, Agilik also demonstrated that it collects angular measurements, such as the amplitude of maximum flexion and extension movements. It also collects angular velocity data to help clinicians make data-driven care decisions, thereby tailoring the treatment plan. Not sure which to choose? Visit our comparison guide.
Who is it for?
Agilik is designed for people who have suffered a stroke, have cerebral palsy, or have spina bifida, to improve their mobility. Agilik is also designed for people with:
Insufficient knee extension caused by neuromuscular disorders;
Gradual fatigue or exhaustion while hiking;
weakness in the lower limbs, such as in the quadriceps and hamstrings, which can cause instability during the stance phase;
Sagittal Knee Instability in Outpatients.
Patients experience a better quality of life, improved balance, a reduced risk of falls, and increased muscle strength. On the other hand, fatigue from walking is reduced as a result of less compensatory gait. In any case: please contact us.
